Make your next test count.
A focused practice tool for measuring hand speed, checking consistency and keeping track of progress.
Start here
- Place your iPhone or iPad near an acoustic practice pad in a quiet room.
- Allow microphone access. Set the trigger level while playing a few strokes, making sure each hit registers once.
- Choose your exercise and test duration, then start. Your first detected stroke starts the timer.
- Review your result and recording, then save the score to keep it in Score History.
Missing or extra strokes?
Adjust the trigger level and try moving the device closer to the pad. Background noise, voices, reverberation and a resonant playing surface can affect detection. Review the recording and stroke markers when a count needs checking. The app measures detected sounds; it does not independently certify a performance.
No microphone input?
Open your device’s Settings, find PolyNome Speed Test and enable Microphone. Check the selected input in the app’s advanced settings, especially if headphones or an external microphone are connected. Return to calibration before starting another test.
Where are my scores?
Saved results and local challenges belong to this app on this device. They do not automatically synchronise with PolyNome or another device. Deleting the app can remove its local history. Keep a device backup and share any result images you want to retain separately.
Sharing and local challenges
Create a local challenge to compare participants using one device. Share a result image or QR link to let someone keep a result. Opening a shared result page needs an internet connection. A shared result is a keepsake, not a verified global leaderboard entry.
Recording and sharing video
Enable the optional front or rear camera before starting a test. Review the recording with its detected count at normal, half or quarter speed. Save the score, then choose Share Video from the saved attempt to adjust framing and count placement, preview the movie, and save it to Photos or share it. Exported movies play at normal speed. Microphone access is needed for counting; camera access is optional, and saving to Photos requests add-only access.
Enter the PolyNome Speed Challenge
Record an attempt using the in-app camera and save its score. Open the saved attempt’s Speed Challenge card, share your performance to YouTube, Instagram, Facebook or TikTok yourself, then enter its public video link and your display name. Only choosing Enter Speed Challenge sends the result to the public board. Singles, doubles and paradiddles each have separate 10, 30 and 60-second categories. No email or registration is required. Internet access is needed to submit or browse the leaderboard.
Unfinished entries stay on your device and can be resumed or cancelled. Published entries let you edit public details or remove the online entry while retaining the local score and recording. Different installations do not automatically share player identity. For lost management access or other removal requests, see removal help. Submitted scores and public video links are not independent performance verification.
One purchase, the complete Speed Test
The standalone app includes its charts, statistics, recording review, saved results and local challenge tools without a subscription. PolyNome is a separate app with a broader collection of metronome and practice tools.
